We obey out of love for Jesus

Our behavior too often holds us back because we get discouraged by our own failures.  That's not how Christ sees or values you and me.  Instead, He simply asks if we love Him.  Rules attempt to modify our behavior, but love, the love of God, changes our hearts.  When our hearts are free to love with abandon, knowing that we're not being judged for every failure, our behavior changes.  It changes not because we have to, but because we love Him so much that we want to.  It's never been about being better behaved; it's always been about us being more in love---and nothing, nothing, nothing can ever separate us from that love.
